‘Common castor butterfly’

The word ‘castor’ in the name of this butterfly is because of the reason that the female butterfly lays eggs on the backside of the leaf of the castor oil plant, which hosts this butterfly. The eggs grow and become again little butterflies staying there on this plant all along, passing through all the stages i.e., larva, pupa etc.

This butterfly looks reddish brown in color and its wings bear dark reddish-brown lines which appear like waves and these wavy lines form an interesting, attractive pattern on the wings of this butterfly.
